Download Defraggler
Most defrag tools only allow you to defrag an entire drive. Defraggler lets you specify one or more files, folders, or the whole drive to defragment.
When Defraggler reads or writes a file, it uses the exact same techniques that Windows uses. Using Defraggler is just as safe for your files as using Windows.
At a glance, you can see how fragmented your hard drive is. Defraggler's drive map shows you blocks that are empty, not fragmented, or needing defragmentation.
  • Give your hard drive a quick touch-up with Quick Defrag
  • Organizes empty disk space to further prevent fragmentation
  • Defragment while you sleep - and wake up with a faster PC. Set Defraggler to run daily, weekly or monthly
  • Full Windows OS and Multi-lingual support
  • Boot time defrag of system files
  • Supports 37 major languages
Defraggler is made by Piriform, the company that also brought you CCleaner and Recuva, so is completely free!

Windows 8.1 Update 1 released

Windows 8.1 Update 1 released
Microsoft, in response to the requests of users has listened to the demands and has decided to launch the Update 1 for Windows 8.1 Users.
This update allows Windows 8.1 to identify whether the PC supports touch or not and works accordingly by adjusting its controls.
Let’s have a brief review of its featuresà
11)   Many normal computer users were facing a lot of problems regarding shutting down Windows 8.1 as it took many steps. From now on, the Power and Search buttons will be present on the Start Screen for easy access to both these vital functions.
22)   If your device is non-touch, Windows will accordingly directly boot the Desktop by default.
33)   Now, Metro apps can be pinned to the Desktop so that they can be launched from the Desktop directly. A new wonderful feature would be that the metro apps will have Minimize and Close buttons to close the app directly.
44)   Internet Explorer now comes with many improvements.

Microsoft has released the Update on 8th April, the same day when XP dies.
Good Bye Old, and Welcome the New!

I would like to acknowledge askvg.com for providing more details on the topic.

Alternatives to Windows XP

Alternatives to Windows XP
So, just posted an article ‘bout Windows XP, where its support’s going to end soon. Now, what if you ditch it??
Well, I gave a very small hint in my last article, if you all remember (It was Ubuntu). Next, in this article, I want to tell you all that this article will focus only on the alternatives, and not go into much detail.
Here I begin.
Windows 7.
So, if you’re a Windows guy and want to continue with the Windows and the Microsoft family, I would surely recommend Windows 7. The biggest profit for you would be that you will have a very familiar desktop, and if you would like to see Windows XP back again, you could very well get the Windows XP Mode for Windows 7 from here, and you’re back to your heaven!
But there’s still a disadvantage. You’ll need upgraded hardware, as Windows 7 has higher hardware requirements. So if you’re up on Windows XP on an old machine, you’ll never make a go of it. So think before you decide!
Windows 8.1 Update 1
Now, you’re thinking of a friend who’s got a touch PC, with the latest Windows 8.1, and you’ve got the hardware, but you’ve read such things about it, that you’re hating it. Now, what to do??
Here’s what I would recommend you all to do. Get it. For free. The Update 1 brings everything you need in a desktop PC. So, you’ve got a recommendation. Think about it.
Ubuntu
Here is a free alternative, UBUNTU. I personally would recommend this, because it is no longer the Linux of the past, which was the terminal and CUI. It is now much more modern, which has a wonderful graphical interface, and has many apps built in, such as Thunderbird, Firefox, and you can get many more on its store, I would recommend you to get Chrome, but it would be hard to find, as its name is Chromium. Just get it, and all your history, bookmarks and passwords in here! My choice!
Ah, Well. I hope that you’ve got a hunch of what you should do. Best of Luck!

The end of Windows XP :(

Tuesday, April 8, 2014
Today is 8th April.
This will be the end of an era.
An era which shall be remembered forever, as people say, but will be forgotten soon.
BYE Windows XP :(
The operating system was released to manufacturing on August 24, 2001, and generally released at for retail sale on October 25, 2001.
This was truly what represented Microsoft at that time. And it continued well for 13 years.
In 2007, when Vista came in action, XP did not fade away into darkness. It had a firm position in the world of Operating Systems. When Windows 7 was released in 2009, nothing changed, although Windows XP’s market share declined.
And then came Windows 8, and that was the time when it was announced that the support for Windows XP will end in 2014, and people realised how much they loved Windows XP.
The biggest representation of Microsoft will die soon, with more and more zero day vulnerabilities appearing, and getting attacked by hackers.
It’s really easier for the common man to get to a new OS, but many businesses are still running XP, and that’s where the problem starts.
I am not saying that you all should continue using XP, because Vintage cars are really precious, but how many of them do we see on the road?
Poorer support for newer hardware, less features as compared to new ones, and others.
Well that’s why it will become necessary for everybody to switch to Windows 7, 8 or 8.1(Hey, Windows 8.1 Update 1 is arriving soon!).
Removal of extended support for Windows XP would mean that any loopholes will no longer be patched, and could be exploited very easily.
I hope that this guide told you some things for you all to remember, and also provided a bit of nostalgia. Today, I’m gonna remove Windows XP, and instead install Ubuntu in place of it.
So now my PC contains Windows 7, 8.1, Android and Ubuntu. Happy Now.
Good Bye. Take Care :)

Download µTorrent!

Download µTorrent!
µTorrent is the most popular BitTorrent client outside of China. It is a small, yet feature-filled package. The µTorrent 3.4 RC1 update, has multiples of new tweaks and features, which now makes it even better to use. µTorrent has a large feature set, holds strong performance, remains stable and has support for older hardware and different versions of Windows.
The features which are present in other BitTorrent clients are here in µTorrent, including scheduling, bandwidth prioritization, RSS auto-downloading and compatibility with BitComet-Mainline DHT. µTorrent also supports peer exchange and the Protocol Encryption joint specification (compatible with Vuze / Azureus 2.4.0.0 and above and BitComet 0.63 and above).
Unlike many other torrent clients available, µTorrent does not eat away at valuable system resources; in fact, the program typically runs on approx. 6MB of memory. µTorrent is contained within a single executable file, smaller than 1 MB.
Features include:
  • BitTorrent Labs icon to the status bar
  • Help menu items for bundle and BitTorrent Labs
  • Change logging in settings to remove OpenX
  • Keyboard shortcut to refresh ads now
  • Overlay image when "i" is hovered over
  • Custom PDD
  • Teredo Tunnelling / IPv6 support
  • UPnP support for all versions of Windows
  • Peer exchange
  • Protocol Encryption
The customization options for icons, toolbar graphics and status icon replacements are vast, you can even create your own. µTorrent incorporates localization support and has language support; therefore it will automatically change to your system language.
The µTorrent software was designed to use only minimal resources, yet still offering the functionality comparable to larger BitTorrent clients. µTorrent is very user-friendly; the program updates are not scheduled and are only released when thoroughly tested. This product is available for all major releases of Windows.
µTorrent provides high quality service in a tiny package.
